SCHOTT Pharma Expands Pharmaversity with Launch of Knowledge Hub
The company’s pharmaceutical educational initiative will now include an extensive collection of assets as well as an extensive library of research, industry insights, and case studies for packaging professionals.
Drug containment company, SCHOTT Pharma, has announced the expansion of its Pharmaversity with the addition of its new Knowledge Hub. Featuring more than 100 assets curated by leading glass and polymer experts, the resources give packaging professionals insights into drug-containment and delivery solutions covering the latest pharmaceutical trends and specialized packaging topics (1).
Launched in 2020, Pharmaversity gives industry professionals, academics, and other stakeholders deep, specialized insights into every facet of pharmaceutical packaging. With insights from SCHOTT’s world-leading glass and polymer experts, the Knowledge Hub will complement the existing learning academy and global in-person events sections already available to users.
Valued at USD 147.8 billion in 2024, the pharmaceutical packaging market is predicted to see strong continuous growth through to 2033 (2). As the sector expands, pharmaceutical packaging will continue to move beyond basic product protection to further enhance patient safety, drug integrity, traceability, and support global distribution (3).
The rise of advanced therapies such as biologics and personalized medicines means that packaging components are now expected to withstand varying storage conditions, support self-administration and include features like tamper-evidence and cold-chain compatibility. Concurrently, regulators are tightening the rules on serialization, anti-counterfeiting, and product information, which are forcing companies to revisit their packaging strategies almost continuously (3). Compounding these technical and compliance pressures is the continuing need for better sustainability with a stronger demand for recyclable or compostable materials to reduce the carbon footprint of pharmaceutical supply chains (4).
Pharmaversity is an industry-first approach offering free education from SCHOTT’s materials experts to other industry professionals. By providing users with the knowledge to design patient-friendly formats and avoid expensive mistakes, it’s hoped that drug containment devices will be developed and approved more quickly and efficiently than ever before. By equipping the sector to adapt, this expert-guided model positions the industry to meet — and potentially exceed — the ambitious industry growth forecasts predicted.
