Alcami Strengthens Tennessee Site After Tjoapack Acquisition

This latest investment by the company combines quality system integration, new high‑speed bottling and expanded cold and ambient storage to support growing U.S. packaging demand.

Following the acquisition of contract packaging company Tjoapack, Alcami is making significant upgrades to enhance quality systems, packaging capacity and GMP storage at one of its new facilities. The Clinton, Tennessee, site, which provides clinical and commercial packaging, will be updated to align with Alcami’s broader platform of drug product manufacturing, analytical testing, and pharma storage services across the U.S. (1,2).

The Tennessee facility will adopt MasterControl — the digital quality management system (QMS) already deployed at Alcami’s other U.S. locations — to bring the site onto a common QMS infrastructure, in a move designed to standardize processes, strengthen compliance, and give greater real‑time visibility across operations. Quality and operations teams at the site will be restructured to better match current and forecasted customer needs to create a scalable model that can sustain higher throughput while maintaining service levels for global pharma and biotech clients.

Several existing packaging lines will be upgraded with higher line speeds, new equipment, and the addition of serialization capabilities to support sponsors meeting evolving regulatory and supply‑chain traceability requirements. Alcami is also investing in a new high‑speed bottle packaging line, which is expected to come online in the first half of 2027 and will further increase capacity and throughput for oral solid dose products.

The facility will also be integrated into Alcami’s wider GMP storage network, offering temperature‑controlled capacity, high‑density storage, upgraded warehousing infrastructure, and additional redundancy across multiple U.S. locations. This network currently supports controlled ambient, refrigerated, and frozen conditions, with continuous monitoring and validated environmental controls designed to protect product quality throughout the supply chain.

“By strengthening our Tennessee site across storage, packaging, quality systems, and team structure, we are enhancing our ability to integrate solutions and support customers with greater flexibility and reliability,” said Patrick Walsh, Interim CEO & Board Chair, Alcami, in a company press release (1). “Together, these improvements will enhance operational efficiency, flexibility, continuity of supply, and product protection, allowing Alcami to sustain our quality levels as we service growing customer demand.”

The integration of the site into Alcami’s network, combined with the investment in infrastructure and talent, will benefit both Alcami and Tjoapack’s clients across the U.S. and Europe. Tjoapack customers gain access to Alcami’s broader portfolio — from drug product manufacturing and laboratory services to pharma storage — while Alcami’s existing clients benefit from greater packaging scale, increased supply chain redundancy, and enhanced market access support.
