Codis Announces Three Senior Appointments to Fuel U.S. and European Expansion

The appointment of three new senior business development directors across Europe and the U.S, will not only strengthen Codis’ commercial team but will also reinforce its commercial capabilities.

CDMO specializing in commercial spray drying, amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs), particle engineering, and finished dose manufacturing, Codis, has appointed three senior business development leaders to accelerate growth across North America and Europe. The St. Louis–headquartered company operates CGMP facilities in St. Louis, Missouri, Seymour, Indiana, and Haverhill, UK, giving it one of the largest pharmaceutical spray‑drying footprints globally.

The company has named Pedro Fernandes Botas as Business Development Director, Europe, with a mandate to expand the company’s regional presence in spray drying and related particle‑engineering services. Botas brings a strong commercial track record from roles at Lotus Pharmaceutical, Faes Farma, Bene, Labatec Pharma, and Hovione, where he focused on building strategic partnerships and opening new market channels.

Suzanne Brady, Ph.D. has been appointed as Business Development Director, U.S., with a focus on driving new business in pharmaceutical spray drying and advancing broader commercial strategy. Brady previously held senior roles at Hovione, Mikart, Serán Bioscience, and Lonza, combining scientific training in molecular genetics with extensive experience in program management and business development across oral solid dose and complex formulation projects.

Also joining as Business Development Director, U.S., is Derek Deckrader, who will cover Codis’ full U.S. portfolio. His remit spans aqueous spray drying, microencapsulation, continuous granulation, value‑added ingredients for the vitamins, minerals, and supplements (VMS) sector, and finished dose manufacturing services, to strengthen Codis’ ability to support customers from functional ingredients through to final dosage forms.

“Pedro, Suzanne, and Derek each bring exceptional industry experience, strong commercial acumen, and a shared commitment to advancing Codis’ growth ambitions,” said Steve Facer, SVP Sales & Marketing, in a company press release (1). “Their leadership will play a central role as we continue to reshape the business and expand our presence across the U.S. and Europe.”

The hires follow Codis’ formal launch as a unified global CDMO in late 2025, combining Particle Dynamics in the U.S. with the former EUROAPI spray‑drying site in Haverhill, UK. The integrated business now offers more than 5,000 metric tons per year of spray‑drying capacity, a regulatory track record spanning three decades, and hundreds of employees serving around 50 global pharmaceutical customers (2).

Codis is also preparing a step‑change in solvent‑based spray‑drying capacity with the installation of a GEA Pharma‑SD PSD4 spray dryer at its 400,000‑square‑foot Haverhill facility, which will make it the only UK CDMO with this specific commercial‑scale capability. The PSD4 unit, expected to be operational in 2027, is designed to deliver up to 30,000 kg per year of amorphous solid dispersion output, providing a seamless scale‑up path from the company’s existing PSD2 pilot and smaller commercial assets (3).
