AMM and SRT Team Up to Drive the RNA Medicine Agenda

A new alliance between AMM and SRT will bring together senior executives and academic researchers to advance pioneering messenger RNA (mRNA) and RNA-based medicine.

The Alliance for mRNA Medicines (AMM) and the Society for RNA Therapeutics (SRT) have announced a partnership to present ASCENT 2026, scheduled for October this year. Together, the organizations will develop the events program with a focus on enhanced networking and knowledge-sharing for industry leaders, innovators, and researchers across the RNA medicine landscape (1).

ASCENT 2026 is AMM’s flagship annual meeting, bringing together senior executives and top decision-makers in the mRNA industry to advance pioneering research into vaccines and therapies for patients toward clinical and commercial reality (2). AMM and SRT will co-curate a scientific agenda for companies and academic researchers to showcase emerging research and innovative methods across both mRNA and RNA-based medicines. The event will also provide a platform for presenters to engage directly with potential partners, investors, peers, and decision-makers.

“This partnership is a natural fit to enable the entire RNA sector to work together for solutions to the current needs of the industry,” said John P. Cooke, M.D., Ph.D., President, Society for RNA Therapeutics, and Director, Center for RNA Therapeutics, Houston Methodist Research Institute, in a press release (1). “AMM represents the industry and academic institutions building mRNA medicines. SRT represents members of the scientific community advancing the underlying science.”

“This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing high-quality scientific exchange and supporting the continued growth of the RNA therapeutics community,” added Clay Alspach, Executive Director, Alliance for mRNA Medicines, in the press release (1). “By combining AMM’s convening power across the mRNA industry with SRT’s RNA research expertise and community, ASCENT 2026 will offer an even stronger platform for showcasing innovation and accelerating progress for patients.”

AMM ASCENT 2026 will take place from Oct. 28–30, 2026 in Coronado, California. Researchers and companies can submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations in the two scientific sessions: ‘Translational Research in RNA Therapeutics’ and ‘Innovation in RNA Therapeutics and Delivery’, and book attendance to the event via the AMM website (2).

Earlier in the month, SRT announced its plans to strengthen its leadership team and issued a clear call to action for unity of the RNA sector. The appointments of Luke Thorstenson as Executive Director and Andrew Varley, Ph.D., as Secretary and member of the Board of Directors, are aimed at giving the society strategic, scientific, and operational depth.

“This is a transformational moment for the Society and for the field,” explained Dr. John P. Cooke, President, Society for RNA Therapeutics, in a SRT press release (3). “This expanded team gives the Society the strategic, scientific, and operational leadership to further achieve the Society's mission of education, advocacy, professional development, and guidelines for scientists and clinicians working in RNA therapeutics, at a time when the field is poised for extraordinary impact.”
